extraprima 95 | Der Wawerner Goldberg ist eine Grosses Gewächs-Lage mit Rotschieferböden und Quarzporphyr vulkanischen Ursprungs. Der Goldberg besitzt eine generöse, tiefe Nase, die noch etwas jugendlich verschlossen erscheint, etwas Wachs darin, dichte satte Art, sehr ansprechend. Rassig, lang und schmelzig-füllig im Mund, wirkt auch hier der jugendliche Wachston noch ein wenig bremsend, dennoch erzeugt der Goldberg große Spannung und eine feine Aromatik am Gaumen. Mit 12% Alkohol wirkt er leicht und doch ist er geschmacklich sehr gehaltvoll. Einer der beeindruckendsten Grossen Gewächs-Rieslinge.

Parker 94 | Nachdem der Goldberg Grosses Gewächs 2019 als Fassmuster im August 2020 mit nur (92-93) bewertet wurde, kam er nach der Abfüllung im April 2021 auf standesgemäße 94 Punkte bei Parker's Wine Advocate: The Wawern 2019 Goldberg Riesling Grosses Gewächs, sourced from reddish slate soils, opens pure and crunchy yet dense and intense on the nose. The bouquet is still somewhat reductive or caged on the first day, but it releases refreshing lemon and lemongrass aromas as well as beautiful notes of finely crushed slate and lemon chutney. This is an excitingly pure, refined and elegant yet also complex, round and juicy but always energetic Goldberg whose finish is very delicate yet enormously piquant and thoroughly mineral, with crunchy mineral tannins, fine bitters and a long and textured finish. The Goldberg is less rich and powerful compared to the Bockstein, but it's excitingly pure, crisp and slatey. One of the finest I have tasted here in years.

Suckling 94 | Very attractive nose that combines apple ring and dried pear with plenty of herbs, a touch of licorice and some mystery. Rich and mellow, but also full of life with great, mineral freshness lifting the substantial body and carrying the long finish. Drink or hold.
